IE2/IE3 Motors

The european directive 98/34/EC calls for the introduction of IE2 motors from June 16th 2011 and IE3 motors from January 1st 2015.

 

EU legislation requires that the majority of electric motors must comply with the following standards: 

IE1 = Standard Efficiency 

IE2 = High Efficiency 

IE3 = Premium Efficiency

 

The IE2 rating is not mandatory in the following cases:

 

1. Temporary or intermittent duty.

2. Where the goods are specifically rated at 45 Deg C.

3. Where the duty cycle is other than S1.

4. Flameproof motors.

5. Increased safety motors.

6. Brake motors.
